GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

GLS Program Coordinator assists students in developing personal employment goals, honing employability skills, and creating and executing personalized career plans. Daily duties may include helping students pursue employment, internship/externship, or apprenticeship opportunities, providing feedback and hands-on instruction in preparing work portfolios and cover letters and preparing students for job interviews. They also will hold one on one coaching sessions to help students resolve barriers to employability and host workshops that help students establish social networks and build relationships among members to actively promote their career objectives and academic requirements.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Supervise all the Good Life Solution Network Programs (BUILD and SERVE Hampton Roads).
  • Supervise the Regional Career Specialists at both CTE campuses and provide the necessary leadership to accomplish the goals and objectives outlined in the BOLDLY GO 2025 Strategic Plan and as provided by the Executive Director.
  • Supervise, Plan, and coordinate with CTE Principals all CTE recruitment activities.
  • Create and brief the CTE leadership team at monthly review meetings.
  • Serve as the main employer point of contact.
  • Manage and update the GLS webpage on the NHREC main website.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of three years of work experience in a professional or educational setting.
  • Track record of leadership experience and managing large complex projects.
  • Bachelor’s required; Master’s preferred from an accredited college or university in an education discipline.
  • Possess experience in advising high school students for college courses and/or career opportunities.
  • Valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License or ability to provide own transportation
  • Working knowledge of Google suite applications and Microsoft Office with an emphasis on MS Word and Excel. 
  • Support and implement the strategies and initiatives (where applicable) outlined in our Organizational Strategic Plan, Boldly Go 2025.
  • Models the NHREC Strategic Plan values: Equity, Engagement, Experience, Collaboration, Career Readiness, and Empowerment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
