 GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

 Responsible for recruiting efforts to support the Out-of-School Programs under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.  Responsibilities include:  recruiting applicants for programs; assisting in determining applicant’s eligibility under Federal regulations; assisting students in the application and enrollment processes; informing the community on programs available under the WIOA; developing community partnerships to best serve youth in jurisdictions served by the Youth Workforce Center and assisting in the monitoring of participant activities.  Responsible for the development of marketing materials for the Youth Program under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.

 

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Recruitment and assisting students with preparing documents for entry to program.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE CLASS (May not include all duties performed.)

 

Recruit students for all WIOA programs under the Youth Workforce Center.

 

Develop marketing and recruiting materials to communicate YWC programs to students, parents and community agencies.

 

Manage effective and cordial communications with school divisions, community partners and agencies.

 

Assist students in preparing required documents for entry into WIOA programs.

 

Assist the YWC staff to ensure prospective applicants meet program requirements and established goals.

 

Assist students and agency representatives with developing and maintaining student records.

 

Conduct training and orientation programs on youth programs for school officials, parents and community agencies.

 

Assist the YWC staff in maintaining student records.

 

Performs related duties as required or assigned by the Program Manager or other appropriate administrators.

 

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

 

Ability to accurately maintain data files and to prepare reports from files and records.

 

Good knowledge of recruitment procedures and practices.

 

Good knowledge of computer technology utilization, LAN and database management methods and procedures and 

institutional business office procedures and proper English usage. 

  

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with school administrators, support staff and students. 

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

 

BS degree in Counseling preferred or related areas of studies or experience equivalent.   

 

Must possess solid leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary to develop effective working relationships with teachers, students, parents, school division personnel and other community groups.

 

Possess excellent written and oral communications skills.

 

Must have working knowledge of computers to include Microsoft Office Suite.

 

Must be able to work effectively at a number of locations during the workday.

 

Reliable transportation required.

 

Valid Virginia Driver’s License, frequent driving may be required.

 

Work is performed in different locations and is subject to frequent interruptions.

 

Assignment involves exposure to normal, everyday risks related to contact with young adults in a traditional school setting.
