GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

The instructor is responsible for preparing junior and senior high school students for a career in Electrical and Renewable Energy. The instructor will develop the students’ knowledge, skills, and talents utilizing a variety of instructional techniques appropriate to the students’ abilities. The instructor is responsible for teaching theory, navigating the National Electrical Code Book, and installation/repair of lighting, power, conduit, and panel boards. The instructor is responsible for creating a safe and orderly learning environment.  Demonstrates techniques to students in electrical concepts.  

Develops clear and concise instructional plans and organizes class time to provide a balanced program of academic instruction, hands-on application and computer based learning.

  

Must possess an in-depth knowledge of electronics and electricity, both AC and DC.

 

Must have a working knowledge of installing and troubleshooting solar panels and hydrogen fuel cells.

 

Must possess working skills and abilities in the electrical wiring of various pieces of equipment and buildings.

 

Must possess the ability to instruct students in the field of electricity and the renewable energies.

 

Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Must possess a high school diploma and a minimum of three years of verifiable work experience in electrical trade within the last five years. Candidate must hold or be able to obtain journeyman’s license. Must qualify for a Virginia Teaching Certificate to teach electrical courses.
