The Part-Time Instructor will train students, in a classroom with Veterinary lab setting, to assist veterinarians and other veterinary professionals in the many areas involving the care of animal patients. Students will learn to work as a team, and to communicate effectively using proper terminology. Topics to be covered include basic first aid, medical terminology, professional and ethical standards of veterinarian medicine, handling and restraint, animal anatomy, and diseases and treatments. Completion of this course will prepare students for full-time employment as a kennel attendant or a veterinarian assistant in a veterinarian hospital or clinic. It will also provide a foundation for students to enter into the community college system for an Associate’s Degree as a Licensed Veterinarian Technician.

Classes begin FALL of 2020 and run 144 hours, Tuesday & Thurday evenings from 6 PM - 9 PM at the Woodside Lane Campus in Newport News.

Minimum Qualification Required: Licensed Veterinary Technician.

A criminal background check will be required for employment.
